About our Early
Prototype Development
|
 |
Do they float?
Our prototype 32-inch inflatable loudspeaker will float
in air when filled with "balloon gas" (helium and air mixture), at
sea level and room temperature. |
 |
How do they
sound?
Our early prototypes sound remarkably good, given that
they were produced by hand from standard off-the-shelf components
and with no great degree of optimisation. |
 |
Have you measured the sound quality?
Yes, we have tested it using a full anechoic chamber at the University
of Salford. |
 |
How loud will
they go?
Our early prototypes use low power off-the-shelf transducers.
A personal stereo driving a stereo pair of inflatable loudspeakers
can produce a pleasing sound level in a medium sized room. |
 |
How much will
it cost?
It depends on the manufacturer and the market segment.
We believe that the price will always be competitive with other types
of loudspeaker. In particular, novelty-type loudspeakers will be very
low cost. As with any product, there will probably be a range of prices
and qualities. |
 |
What sizes
are available/how does size affect the sound?
In our early prototypes we used 18 inch enclosures however
we have made both smaller and much larger ones. In common with almost
every loudspeaker, a bigger enclosure produces a better sound.
|
 |
How did you
come up with it?
The inventor was experimenting with another type of loudspeaker and
built the first inflatable loudspeaker to prove a principle. The first
inflatable loudspeaker worked much better then he ever imagined! |
 |
